Park Life

Earlier this week I went with Z to a park

to hike around with my camera while he ran.

The interesting thing about this particular park 

is that it sits up on top of several bluffs, 

so you have a panoramic view of the mountains

to the east, and the oil fields stretching out to the north.

But there is also a river and canal that run

directly below the bluffs with a running trail, 

and there are dirt paths 

all along the bluffs that lead down to the water.

So you are left with an unusual combination of nature & industry

not typical (in my previous experience) of a park setting.

Welcome to Cali!

Our friends Matt & Chris

just came to visit us for a week,

so these next several posts will be photos

from their visit.

Visitors!

We were very happy to have our 

friends Josh & Tim stop by this week.

Z went to school with both of them in 

Chicago, where Tim still lives.

He was in Cali to visit Josh in Long Beach

& lots of other folks, too!

We went to Moo Creamery for lunch

and then gave them the grand tour of 

town, ending up at the bluffs overlooking

the oil fields.

Thanks for including us in your crazy Cali road trip/vacation, 

Tim! We had a great afternoon with y'all!

Beyond the backyard

I often photograph my backyard

(see above),

but I thought I'd share a few things

that caught my eye recently

in the downtown area near my house.

House Tour

Since many of our friend & family

have requested photos of our little house,

I thought we would close out the year with

a pictorial house tour.

We'll begin in the kitchen,

since I spend so much time there.
