Calumet Fisheries

Z has long wanted to try
Calumet Fisheries.
You may remember it from
Anthony Bourdain's
No Reservations

or from The Blues Brothers.

We met up with some friends
there to grab some
smoked fish
before heading back to watch
the Fire game on TV.

The weather was awful,
but it was definitely a fun,
authentic Chicago
experience.

Everyone tells me that the
fish tasted awesome,
but I have to admit that
my nose did not agree.

I'll take their word for it.

Mr. W: Cone-free

After ~ 6 months of
on-and-off
cone wearing,
Mr. W is
FINALLY
cone free!

Everyone is MUCH happier!

*Post Edit: Hopefully I didn't speak too soon.
We've had a bit of paw licking this
week & are determined not to
start the cycle over again.

Soon...

Sorry I haven't posted in a while.

It is the end of the semester for both
of us (the end of grad school for Z!),
so we have been a bit busy with
final projects, papers, etc.

We also just got back from a senior capstone
event in the suburbs. We got to
spend the night in a nice hotel, eat some good
food and attend sessions about handling
first call issues & entering the real world of
the church (as opposed to the seminary bubble).

Then, of course, I made Z take me to IKEA!

Soon I will get back to taking pics and posting more,
especially since I'm not taking any summer classes!

Racing

Z ran another 5k on Sunday.
This one was in Oak Park, and it was
big.

He hit another PR and placed
30th of 500 men (no walkers)
in an extremely fast field.

I'm proud :)

Fire Fire Fire!

This weekend was the Chicago Fire home opener.
We headed over to Toyota Park with
some friends. It was a beautiful night
and lots of fun, but unfortunately
our Fire lost 2-1.

Running.

Z is a real runner.
Most of you know this already.
But if you didn't, see the below picture as proof.
He takes his running very seriously
& most recently won a 5k.
His award is displayed on the mantel.

Here is the close-up.
See how fierce that lion is?
That is how serious Z is about his running.

I, on the other hand,
have been an on-again, off-again
runner for many years,
ever since 10th grade.

That is when I joined the cross-country team,
not because I was so interested in running
but more because I was
really terrible at volleyball
& had to find a new sport.

So, last week,
when Z needed some new running shoes
I got some for myself, too.

And yesterday we went running at the lake.
I say "we", which means that we started together
and then I watched him disappear.
(Hey, he runs everyday....I hadn't run since last July/August)

But I did a slow 3 miles without stopping
and it felt good.
I'm about to head out there again today.

Consider me on-again.

No joke....

Chicago has been having some
GORGEOUS
weather!

Yesterday Z and I walked out to
The Point
to enjoy the warm sunshine.

St. Thomas the Apostle

Nothing like a little accordion by the lake.

Home.

Family stuffs..

Another great thing about going
to NC
for Kerri's wedding was
getting to see our families.

Love getting to see our Mason!

He is so much fun :)

Mmm...peaches on a fork.

My favorite Kristen!

Love this one of the brothers & Mason...
also, that is not Z's phone.

Yay

Beautiful Arden & a silly Shelby

It was raining hard, so Josh generously
offered me his hood.

Pizza & Salad with the family

Precious grands who let us borrow their car
for the weekend...soooo helpful!

On the way to the airport...had such a
great morning with Daddy in Asheville.
Good shopping & great food...love that town!
