A doe, a deer.

The other day we were downtown
and saw this little lady making her way
through an empty parking lot.

This is a fairly common sight, with deer parading
through neighborhoods,
bears climbing trees in public parks,
and the occasional mountain lion in town.

Thankfully this little lady was heading back toward
the nearby meadows of the Open Space
and away from the streets and cars.

Happy Fall, Y'all!

Autumn is upon us &
the landscape is changing accordingly.
We haven't made it up to see the aspens yet,
but I did snap some photos on a little hike this week.

Check out the rest of the photos here!

When art meets science.

Just came across this print & wanted to share it with you.

Isn't it awesome?

I adore the vibrant colors, the range of subjects,
the style, everything about it.

I would love to see it in wrapping paper form,
or even matted in a frame.

What about you?

200th post: A night at the Kern County Fair

I don't know if you all
know this about me,
but I
L-O-V-E
a good fair.

I grew up going to
the Cleveland County Fair
but I hadn't been to a fair
in years.

So I was probably a little
over-excited when ads
for the Kern County Fair
(Best in the West!)
started popping up
right after we moved here.

I'll admit,
I had a slight fear
that going to the fair would
be one of those things
that wouldn't taste so sweet
as an adult
as it did in my childhood,
but I shouldn't have worried...

the animals...

the food...

the rides...

(ok so it was a little strange that some of the
rides were actually from MJ's Neverland Ranch)

the games, the lights,
the extraordinary people-watching...

I love it all!
