Colorado summer

Since we've been back in Colorado
after our Cali & Chicago trips,
we've had plenty of summertime
going on.

Like racing,

Fireworks with friends at the lake,

mountain biking,

hiking,

and enjoying some time with family!

Summer days

I haven't been posting very much
because when I'm not at work
I'm usually outside
running, hiking, walking...
anything to get out on these
gorgeous summer days.

Here are a few shots from this weekend!

Boulder Summer

Wow, I have really let this blog slide lately.
To those of you still checking in here,
thank you, and I apologize.

With everything going on this summer,
the blog hasn't been a priority,
but I've still been taking lots of photos,
so I can catch you up on things!

Hiking with friends.

One of our awesome friends from Chicago
came to visit for a couple of days last week.

We took advantage of the gorgeous
weather & went on a favorite hike
of mine.

Uh oh, altitude....

Getting a closer look at the rock face.

Pointing out Boulder landmarks.

Nice, but, um...we're still not at the top.

Best seat in the house.

They are number 1.

I was there, too!

Other highlights of Adam's visit include eating
lots & lots of yummy food.

We love showing off Colorado,
and love seeing friends even more!

In remembrance.

This morning was grey & cold
with the promise of snow
rolling in over the Front Range,
seemingly mirroring my own
state of mind.

As I walked along the paths
by the Boulder Reservoir,
my thoughts turned
to my family in NC.
This afternoon they buried my
Pop Pop,
and I was saddened not to be
there with them to celebrate his life.

Being out in the brisk fresh air, though,
I was reminded that even in the
grey midwinter, we are surrounded
by beauty & life,
and I am thankful.

A perfect morning.

A few nights ago, Z & I went up to
He stayed on a lower-elevation trail to run,
and I ventured up the trail towards the

It was a blustery day,
but the late afternoon sun
made the fall colors just pop.

Unfortunately, I was thisclose to the end
of the trail when I realized that I only
had 15 minutes until I was supposed to
meet Z back at the car.
Whoops!

As I hurried down the mountain,
I passed tons of spots I wanted to photograph,
but I didn't want Z to worry,
so I vowed to return as soon as I could.

Yesterday morning I set out again
with my camera,
only this time without a deadline.

The trail wends its way back behind the 1st Flatiron
to reveal the snow-covered back range.

I started getting hungry, so on the way back down the trail
I spotted a perfect little place for a snack.
There was a small outcropping shaped just like
a small bench, so I scrambled over some
rocks and enjoyed my apple
while overlooking Boulder.

Perfect.

I had a really hard time choosing which photos
to put on the blog, because there were so many good ones.
Be sure to go see them here!
